Maranta leuconeura ‘Tricolour’, commonly called the Prayer Plant, is a rhizomatous, clump-forming perennial celebrated for its vivid foliage and gentle, rhythmic leaf movement. Its name comes from the way the leaves fold upright at night, resembling hands in prayer. The plant features elliptic to ovate leaves in a rich dark green shade, patterned with pale silver lines that extend from the midrib to the edges. Each leaf is further enhanced by bright pink veins and deep purple undersides, giving a striking three-toned appearance. The leaves grow close to the soil surface, arching outward to form a compact, layered display. Though small tubular flowers may appear in summer, they are rare indoors and subtle compared with the ornamental foliage.

Growing Conditions
